The grass withers and the flowers fall,

but the word of our God endures forever.

Isaiah 40:8

With most of our snow now melted, I’ve been dreaming of green grass, buds, daffodils, and spring temperatures.

Later, during my prayer time, I found myself in the Book of Isaiah, chapter 40: 6-8, where his words of comfort caught my eye, “All people are like grass, and their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.

Sitting with this passage, I closed my eyes and thought how like the grass of the field, you and I are strong, tall, and hearty one day, but our seasons on earth are limited. As you and I age, like the mature flowers of the field that first lose a petal or two but gradually droop, we look in the mirror and wonder where those gray hairs and laugh lines came from.

Life is fragile and fleeting, but with faith, as we fade, we can continue to stand tall like the grass and know that love blooms eternal through our consistent journey with the Lord.

Jesus says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Word will never pass away” (Matthew 24: 35).

The Word you and I study is the same Word that has been passed down for generations, and will be the same Truth for generations yet to come.

You and I may change and age, but God’s wisdom is ageless and unchanging. Like the healthy spring and summer grass that withers and fades, we can rely on God’s eternal care and promises. You and I can be secure and hopeful, discover comfort and peace, and be blessed with his everlasting, infinite love.

Come now, my friend, let us stand tall, look to the gift of the cross, and remember God’s love blooms eternal.

Let’s pray.

Loving God,

I praise you and thank you for your enduring love, for you are the One constant, unchanging presence in my life. You have reminded me that your care, compassion, and direction are always with me. I may wither and fade like the grass and flowers, but your love blooms eternal. May I abide in your love. May the gift of your peace flow out of my heart to others, so that they, too, may stand tall and pass on their faith. I praise you and thank you, God, for your eternal love. In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen.

Thank you, dear friend, for being a special part of the Faith First Women family.

Until next time…

May the Spirit of God lead you,

The Word of God sustain you, and

May the promises of God grant you the gift of everlasting peace.

Have a blessed and beautiful day!

With love and prayers.
