“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be
discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1: 9
Have you ever just had one of those days?
Maybe you lost your cool with someone close to you, or maybe it was the other way around. Perhaps you were running late, forgot your phone, missed a deadline, or found yourself stifling unspoken sobs rather than reacting to a comment, or worse yet, were the recipient of bad news.
The truth of the matter is ‘getting through the going through’ alone is never easy.
However, bringing God into the conversation changes everything.
You see, God is the Alpha and Omega. He is the beginning and the end. He is working on your behalf. All of the time.
The Master Gardener reminds us, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15: 5).
No matter what you and I face today, there are four keys to keep in mind.
As children of the Most High King, we press on.
Just as the Lord commanded Joshua, He directs us. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1: 9).
We pause to pray for ourselves and others throughout the day.
“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind be alert and always keep praying for all the Lord’s people” (Ephesians 6: 18).
We praise God in all circumstances.
“Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 6: 19-20).
We ponder and discern where the Holy Spirit is leading us.
“Do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say” (Luke 12: 11-12).
Come now, my sister, God’s got this and so do you.
Let’s pray.
O’ Lord,
I praise you and thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for guiding my thoughts and directing my steps to follow the path you have set before me. Help me to seek your will in all things, and not my own. I ask for your Wisdom, and words to help me respond in those tough conversations. For only you and you alone know what we all need to hear. I praise you and thank you for your abundant love and understanding as I place my trust in you.
In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen.
My beautiful friend, thank you so much for being part of this community. Together let’s “press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Phillipians 3: 12).
Until next time…
May the Spirit of God lead you, the Word of God sustain you, and the promises of God grant you the gift of everlasting peace.
With love and blessings.
** Questions for Reflection:
In what ways will you incorporate the four p’s into your day? Name how you can become intentional about pressing on, pausing to pray throughout your day, praising God in all circumstances, and pondering and discerning where the Holy Spirit will lead you?
Write a prayer to the Holy Spirit thanking him for his personal guidance in your life.
