Finding the Missing Piece

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body

you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Colossians 3: 15 NIV

Swaying back and forth in catechism class, I remember singing, “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” I had no idea what true peace looked like or felt like, but believed getting along with others was important, and God had to be in the middle of it.

Paul’s spiritual wisdom states, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful” (Colossians 3: 15).

Paul recognized that life is full of turmoil, and knew firsthand that peace was something Christ followers would always strive for.

When our beloved relationships, communities, churches, and country are threatened and weakened by darkness and sin, untruths are spoken and confusion sets in.

In constant conflict, hearts become fragile, and you and I can lose a piece of who we are called to be.

Instead of running to, we often pull away from the One who loves us most. King Jesus.

He is the Ruler of our hearts.

To live and love well you and I must seek God first. Looking within the sanctuary of our hearts, we begin to discover how clothing ourselves with kindness, gentleness and humility sets us apart. With mature understanding you and I are able to follow, and eventually share the nonnegotiable rule of peace.

Peace was Christ’s legacy to his disciples. The Lord’s departing words, “Peace I leave you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives” (John 14: 27), brings deep strength and comfort to us all.

Let’s pray.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I praise you and thank you for your peaceful presence in my life. In this sacred silence, I lift my heart and mind to you.

Help me remain in your Light, Lord, seek your Word, and radiate the kind of peace that will bring others to you. I pray that your peace will rule in my heart, and that in my walk with you, your peace will overflow into the lives of those around me.

In gratitude and thanksgiving, and in Jesus’ name I pray.

 Amen.

My beautiful friend, thank you for being a special part of the Faith First Women family.

Until next time…

May the Spirit of God lead you, the Word of God sustain you, and the promises of God grant you the gift of everlasting peace.

In love and peace.
