“The faithful love of the Lord never ends!

His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness;

his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

Lamentations 3:22-23, NLT

As I savor the last of the Christmas cookies and reflect on the stories behind each ornament on the tree, I am reminded of times shared with family and friends, places I’ve traveled, and lessons discovered along the way. Though some encounters were all too brief, and others have lasted a lifetime, I know now that each unique experience has pointed to God’s faithfulness.

Although I did not realize decades ago the power of God’s hand over my life, and that those He placed in my path were there for a reason, I now believe his eternal Presence is a gift to be cherished.

Looking back, all I have ever needed, his hands have provided. As I grow closer to Jesus, I have not only witnessed God’s faithfulness, but what it means to be faithful on my end, too.

For starters, I must be faithful in seeking an intimate relationship with him, live with intention, and honor the Lord by praising him through my actions.

To walk in the Light, you, “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you” (James 4:8).

It is then we discover, “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning” (Lamentations 3: 22-23).

In performing even the most mundane day-to-day tasks, scripture instructs us to, “Be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you” (1 Samuel 12:24)

“Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58).

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” (Ephesians 5:1).

Encouraged and equipped by God, we “thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given us strength, that he considered us trustworthy, appointing us to his service” (1Timothy 1:12).

We can echo David’s words, “Your unfailing love, O’ Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds” (Psalm 36:5).

So, my friend, as we humbly reflect on years gone by, let us thank the Lord for his indwelling Presence and rejoice in new beginnings, acknowledging his unwavering faithfulness, even when we stumble.

May we look ahead praising him for his unending love, and declare his faithfulness by committing ourselves to his Word, living by his Truth, and scattering seeds of love, hope, and peace wherever it is we find ourselves.

Let’s pray.

O’ Faithful God,

We praise you and thank you for your abiding Presence and countless blessings in our lives. For your mercies are new every morning, all we have needed you have provided, and even when we don’t see it or feel it, Father God, we feast our eyes on you. You and you alone know our every hope, every need, every desire, even before we ask. Lord, today we come to you with grateful hearts and our brokenness. We ask that you recognize our needs deep in the silence of our hearts, direct our steps, and heal the wounds we carry. We trust in you, Lord. We worship you and are forever thankful for your faithfulness, grace, and goodness. In Jesus’ name we pray.

Amen.

My dear friend, thank you so much for being here. As you ring in the new year, may you be blessed with good health, joy to treasure, and know the Lord is your strength and your song.

Until next time…

May the Spirit of God lead you

The Word of God sustain you, and

The Promises of God grant you the gift of everlasting peace.

With love and prayers.
